- From the perspective of Islamic teachings, any individual who faces difficulties in meeting their essential and complementary needs is considered in need of support and thus eligible for inclusion in the social security system. The model of supporting such individuals is grounded in a justice-oriented approach central to Islamic economics.
This study, using a descriptive-analytical method, seeks to present the dimensions of support mechanisms within the Islamic social security framework—considering the justice-based approach of Islamic economics—across four key areas: (1) beneficiaries of support, (2) scope and level of coverage, (3) methods and strategies of support, and (4) sources of funding and support.
The findings indicate that the Islamic model of social protection differentiates its approach based on the socioeconomic conditions of various groups. Accordingly, individuals in need are supported through three main strategies—sustainable empowerment, sustainable sponsorship, and temporary sponsorship—implemented via both public and governmental layers of support within the social security system.
The most important policy of an Islamic government in this regard is to create equal opportunities, remove structural barriers, and facilitate empowerment and access to resources, ultimately ensuring that the **basic needs of vulnerable groups are met. At the same time, members of society share a mutual responsibility to support disadvantaged groups, guided by defined priorities and principles of social solidarity
